First XI 2012, back: Conor Hoey, Richie Forrest, Hugh Pike, George Dockrell, Eoghan Conway, Fred Mann, Keith Synnott (president); front: Sam Attwood, Mohammed Anwar Amir, Eoghan Delany (capt), Matt Dennington, Dhruv Kapoor Welcome to College Park WELCOME to College Park for the 2013 season. After consolidating our position in Division 2 last year this is another impor- tant year for DUCC. Again we hope to se- cure our position in the Division to ensure that students have the opportunity to de- velop their skills at the highest level possi- ble. It is also important for our second team to compete strongly so that we can hopefully close the gap between the teams to help the club function more smoothly. Now that we also have a third team it is an ideal time for the club to try to continue to grow and develop. This year sees the start of the three-day interpro series which will lead to a first class cricket structure in Ireland. We are de- lighted that Leinster Lightning will be stag- ing their home games in College Park. With luck this can be the catalyst for further de- velopment of University cricket in Ireland withDUCC taking a central role in the for- mation of an academy structure for aspir- ing cricketers in Leinster. It is vital for the club to compete strongly and for us to help facilitate these games so that we can take advantage of the opportunity this presents. I would like to thank the TCDDepart- ment of Sport and the groundstaff for their hard work in making this such a prized venue, and our sponsors who have been generous to us in difficult times. I hope that you enjoy your visit to Trinity. With luck the weather will be warm, the beer cold and the competition hot but fair! Keith Synnott, President
