Lancashire League Handbook 2017

64 (b) (i) For the first 10 overs only 2 fielders are permitted to be outside the field restriction marking at the instant of delivery. (ii) For a period of 5 consecutive overs commencing at a time to be chosen by the batting team but not later than the 36th over only 3 fielders are permitted outside the field restriction marking at the instant of delivery. (c) For the remaining overs a minimum of 4 fielders (plus the bowler and wicket-keeper) must be within the field restriction marking at the instant of delivery. (d) In the event of an infringement of 6b or 6c the Umpire shall call No-Ball. (e) In addition to the 2 run penalty for a “No-Ball”, the delivery following a no-ball called for a foot fault shall be a FREE HIT for the batsman entitled to receive it (If the delivery for the free hit is not itself legitimate for any reason, then the next delivery shall also be deemed a free hit.) For any free hit, the batsman can only be dismissed under the circumstances that apply for a no-ball. Field changes are not permitted for free hit deliveries unless there is a change of striker save that in all circumstances, any fielder within 15 yards of the striker may retreat to a position on the same line no more than 15 yards from the striker. When the ball is dead, the Umpire at the bowlers end shall signal a free hit (after repeating the appropriate No-Ball signal) by extending one arm straight upwards and moving it in a circular motion. 7. In the event of a tie then (1) the result shall be decided in favour of the side losing the least number of wickets, (2) if both sides have lost the same number of wickets the side with the higher overall scoring rate shall be the winner, (3) if the result cannot be decided by (1) or (2) the winner shall be the side with the higher score (a) after 40 overs, or if still equal (b) after 30 overs, or if still equal (c) after 20 overs, or if still equal (d) after 10 overs. 8. In the event of the League Executive Committee deciding that to allow the Competition to proceed it is impracticable for a match to be completed and each team has bowled at least 20 overs, the successful team shall be the one found to have the higher runs per over rate at that time. If the overall runs per over rate of each side is the same the side losing the least number of wickets per over shall be the winner. 9. In all the rounds, the opposing Captains must exchange lists of the eleven players selected at least 15 minutes before play commences and before the toss takes place and no substitute on the first day or any succeeding day shall be allowed to bat or bowl or keep wicket. In the case of no play on the first or next succeeding day or days, the list may be altered by either side on the day when actual play commences.
