Accrinston Cricket Club F{ews April 1995 Newsletter A monthly newsletter will be available to all members and supporters throughout tho 1995 season with the aim of keeping you inforrned of events and happonings at the club New Professional Rafu, hail and a hint of snow welcomed Colin Miller to Accrington in mid April. Colin will live on Hawksworilr Road this swnmer with his girlfrie'nd Debbie. You will probably know that Colin was only the third person in Lancashire League history to do the double. He goes into his first home game noeding only another 976 runs and 98 wickets to be the first man to achieve this feat twice. The Season so far The 3rd )il lead by Mick Donnelly have won and lo$t to East Lancs 4ths and 3rds respectively. Duncan W'arburton's Znd )il won their oponing fixtue and the lst )fl went down to East Lancs. The 4th )(I begin their season on May 6th against Tavereners B on Highams with a new Captain in Daniel Greenwood. The Junior Teammanagers are: Under 15's Alven Burows UndEr l3's Steven Greenwood Under ll's John Swanney Amivals and Deparfures \Ve me pleased to welcome Asad Akram from East Lancs and Scott Greaves, Stefan Heis and Wayne Roberts &om Rishton. Mark Greenhalgh, Neil Holmes and Nick Mmsh have left whilst Alven Burrows and Ian Omrerod claim to be in semi retirement. The artificial practice wickets are now in use. Senior players practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays and juniors practice on Mordays. The club now has five coaches qualified to the National Coaching Certificate standard. They are Alven Burrowq Russell Edmonds, David Pickering, Nigel Stockley, ard Michael Wilson. s.o.s, If yourself or you know of anyone who could spare a little time to help the club it would be much appreciated. In particular we are short of tea ladies on match days and help around the ground on Saturday or Srmday momings is needed. n'und Raisins The club needs to increase its income substantially this season. The artificiat wickets need to be paid for and the Professional will cost us more mon€y this yem. We need your support in the various fund raising activities to do this. One way you can do this is by joining the club lottery. At present their are 91 members associated with the club. We are on course to raise over 12000 through the lottery this year. Our mernbers have won over f600 since we became a member. Ifyou wish to become a member A1vert Burrows is the man to $ee.
