Accrington Clricket Club Nelvs .lune 1995 Junior Cricket The under 15's have made a great start to the reason winring three of their fust four games. Only an exciting last ball tie with Enfield has prevented a clean sweep so far. Good all round team performances as well as good individual eforts have lit up lVednesday nights. This year's regular players include : Richard Burrows (Captain), $qjed Sadiq, Adarn Greenwood, Tahir Ashiq, Imran B.ashid, Paul Stockley, James Smith Dunmn McCormaclq Imran Hussaiq Naveed Hussain, and Adam Barnes. Senior R$lrlts and Pedormances Although results generally have been disappointing rhere have been several outstanding individual performances. Fresh frorn his one match retirement AlvEn Burrows scored the first century of his career or June 1lth against Livosey. This century w*s also the first ever scored in the 4th )fi. Alven hit 19 fours in his 101 not out scoro out of 113 whilst at the crease. In the same matcfu 13 year old Adam Oreenwood took 6 for 44 and still finished on the losing side. The clubs outstanding bowtng perforrnance of the season so far, has with the withdrawel of East Lancs 4th from the loague been erasod from tho record books but not of course *om memory. On furil lSth 3rd )(I swing bowler D*vid Stubbs had the rsmarkable figures of 7 overs, 3 maidens, 7 runs, I wickets. Professioilal Colirt Miller has crmtinued his good form with both bat and ball scoring over 350 runs and taking over 30 wickets. Current averag$ are displayed on the notice board. Socipl Eyeqtq June was a busy and successful month on the social side. Presidents Night l.vas not only a financial success but also a hugely enjoyable evening f'or all who attended as was the Target Golli Forthcoming Events are : June 26th An Evening with Derek Randall July 7th Quiz Night July 8th Liam Brankins Birthday Party July tSth Red Hot and Blue Future events will include the annual treasure hunt and sponsored walk. The club is available for hire for parties or meetings by contacting either Ian Birtwistle (treasurer), Alven Burrows (chairman) or George Ciarke (steward) Fi+anceQeJelonment Committee A sub-committee of GeoffHayhurst, Michael Wilsorl John Kidd sfld David Baffatt (*ecretary) has been formed to drive development and b,ring mfircy into the club. This has been prompted by the ELTEC report and more details will be announced in the near future. The Lancashire Committee have formed a working party to oonsider how the proposed objectives of the English Cricket Board would affect cricket in Lancashire^ One way forward being discussed is the creation of a Premier
