Accrington Cricket Club News August 1995 Sponsored Walk This years Sponsored Walk will be held on Sunday Sept. lTth when a choice of routes will be available. Some of our keener walking mernbers will be doing the Three Peaks walk whilst others will be trekking the haditional 'Rabbit Run'. A sizeable donation will be made to Leukaemia Research. We are asking all members to take part in this firnd raising event or to make aminimum donation of 15.00 to the fund. If this date is inconvenient alternative arrangements can be made. There will be a prize of a f25.00 sports (or other) youcher to the leading fund raiser. Accrineton Sports Ltd. Following the members mandate at the E.G.M., Accrington Sports Ltd. will be launched at 12.00 noon on Friday October 6th. The speakers will be John Conteh and comedian Chris O'Dell. Tables will cost f 160.00 and will seat eight people. If you wish to sponsor the event contact Geoff Hayhurst at Northern Technologies (01282 695186) or at home (01706 213084). The finance - development committeewill be asking each section of the club to submit their ideas and plans for development of the club. Results and Performances Colin Miller should be fit for the frnal games of the season to give the lst XI a boost in their bid to move away from the bottom of the table. The Seconds continue to improve with back to back wins over Burnley and East Lancs and the Thirds have only one defeat in their last nine games. Thp 4th )il have now competed their season finishing bottom of the C Dilision in the Accrington and District Cricket League. Alven Burrows was the leading batsman with244 runs at 27.1 and Adam Greenwood leading bowler with 26 wickets at 14.2. Len Dewhurst took a hat trick in his five wicket haul at Nelson. Mus Shah scored three consecutive 50's in the Thirds and Stephen Heins and Richard Burrows have scored their maiden half centuries for the club. Junior Cricket The under 1l's play their last two games away to Ramsbottom on Wednesday and at Todmorden on Friday. So far this season they have won three and lost three. Regular players include Sajad Sadiq, Patrick Swanney, Mark and Robert Addison, Simon Pollard, Patrick Jenkinson, Mark Hartshome, Rashid, Nasser, Stuart crabtree, Darren Gaynor, James Hayhurst Richard Chaplow, Joel Pilkington, Stuart Ince and Stephen Holden. The under 13's have won the Bob Whitehead Trophy at Great Harwood beating Baienden in the final. The under 15's finished nmners up in their section losing only two games. We me hoping to expand our coaching staffduring the winter by encouraging more people to attend coaching courses. On Sunday 17th September the final Cricket Skills Test will take place at the ground. End ofSeason Sale On Sunday September 10th during the game with Ramsboffom there will be a sale of various items including the club caps, sweaters and shirts.
