He is Colin lvfiller from Australia, who was professional at Rawtenstall from 1990 to 1992.In his first season Colin achieved the rare double of 1078 runs and 100 wickets. The following season he scored 780 runs and took 108 wickets. Mark Aspin has again been invited to captain the first eleven. In an effort to improve practice facilities at the club for both senior and junior players, two artificial practice wickets are to be laid on the outfield at the railway side of the ground in mid March by Notts sport. These will be ready for use at the start of the season. Both senior and junior players are currently attending net practice at Mount Carmel School. Senior's practice on Wednesday nights berween 8.00pm and 9.30pm and junior coaching sessions take place on Friday nights between 7.00pm and 8.45pm. The club now has five coaches qualified to The National Cricket Coaching Certificate standard. They are Alven Burrows, Russell Edmonds, David Pickering Nigel Stockley, and Nfichael Wilson. From the coming seasorL the awarding of Club caps is to be re-introduced on a performance related basis. On the fund raising sidg the club are selling tickets at Jl5.00 each to local businesses for a track suit draw. The winner drawn on March 1lth will have their name printed on the back ofthe First Eleven's track suit tops this season. There are also tickets available behind the bar for a holiday draw in conjunction with Swinton Rugby League club. A ticket bought for 50pence could win you a holiday for two, or Rugby League Cup Final tickets. The Swinton lottery now has 76 members earning f38.00 per week for Accrington Cricket Club. Several rnembers have recently benefited &om this source. As a thank you to the members ofthe Swinton Lottery, the social committee is organising a free night of entertainment on March l lth when the guest artist will be a male comedy vocalist Fizz-er;k. A potato pie supper will also be provided. The social committee has been very active during the Winter organising a wide variety of events including Treasure Hunts, Quizzes, Family Party Nights and several local bands have also played at the club.
