A.ppointmente Ian I,ong has been engaged as groundsman. A student of Myerscough College, Ian has gained experience of groundsmanship at both Rishton & Green Haworth Crolf Club6. Graham Beech will continue ir his role of lst team coach. Lets hope last years movement up the table continues. In Lionel Codre we have the advantage of an "ex?ert" as he was given the task as Assistant Secretary of the Lancashire League to rewrite the nrles for the League Handbook which we would encourage both pla-vers, members and supporters to hry a copy of this ]'ear so that they might just understand *'hat is going on !! Social Iliary The next event will be a Lancashire Night on 9th M4y featuring Ginny Rum. Tickets costing f3.50 (includiug ltrot Pot Supper) are available from behind the Bar, $ummerDraw This year ws have replaced the Xmas druw with a Sumnrer ve,reio*r which will be drawn at the Ctub $portr day on 3lst August. TicLets will be available from the beginning of lday and all Members will be asked to sell them. Donations for prizes rrill be welcomed. Inl\{archRrlss Cuddihy and Alven Burrows attended a Senior Cmching award course at QEGS. 0o l0th May Russ will be at Old Trafford assisting in supervision of a sponsored cricket skills day for Juniors. Rcsults & Per{ormances The 3rd team got the Club offto a winning stflfi last $unday by beating Nelson by 68 runs. Acc batted first and scored L72 for 4 . Duncan McCormack (80) and Mohsin Ahmed (40 n.o.) ptoduced a 3rd wtt parmership of 108. Nelsonr rrrere rcstricted to 104 for 8 Richard Swanney (3-13) andltrlohsin Ahrred (2-35). 3rd team games have contimred under the same format as last year. Masterchef Andrew Stwenson treated the tsams to a fine tea includiug Curry. Sponsored lffalk This years effort bry the few walkers who turned up on the day is expected to have raised f300. A donation will be made to McMillan Nurses. Anyone wishing to donate to the fund can do so b1'contacting either Nigel Stockley or Alven Rurrows. Special mention to the "Rabbit Runners" eqpecially juniors members Graham Sneddon and Jonathan Hayhurst and thanks to Christine Sneddon for providing pie and peas at short notice. Development The Club is hoping to mal$ the Lottery grant applicaticnby June. Planning permission has been granted for an extension to the existing Clrrbhouse to incorporate a toilet block and entrance hall together with storage for machinery in the hsement. F'loodlights have been instalted ol the Carkrkandrcpairs have been made to the sponsors boards which were decimated by the high winds after Christnras.
