Accrin ton Cricket Club It{ewslette rAu ust 1998 SUBSTITUTE PROFESSIONALS In the absence of the touring Ryan Campbell, today's sub pro will be ex Lancs player Dexter Fitton, now at Milnrow. Current county player Gary Yates will deputise for the Saturday matches at Nelson (Sth) and at home to Ramsbottom (22nd). Peter Sleep (or Gary Yates) will make the trip to Burnley (1sth or 16th) and New Zealander Matthew Hart (currently at Wigan in the Penketh Liverpool Competition) will stand in at Enfield (23rd). Ryan should be back for the home game with Church the following week, but if not Hart will replace him. FAMILY FIIN DAY This will be held on Bank Holiday Monday August 31st fromllamonwards and promises to be a great day out for all the family. The full program ofevents willbe announced shortly. HEAIITH AND SAFETY NOTICE Will all members and supporters please note that the playing of football both in and against the cricket nets in the practice areas is strictly forbidden for Health and Safety reasons. THE MAYORAL CHALLENGE The Mayor of Hyndburn Councillor Ian Ormerod has asked the club to host a 6-a-side cricket competition between the clubs of Hyndburn to celebrate his year in office. The fixtures are as follows: $&dnesdav-t2th ArsusI . Immanuel v Baxenden . Church v Enfield Wednesda:d9.th Ausust . Accrington v Great Harwood . Rishton v Accrington and District League. These 10 overs per side matches will commence at 6.30pm. The semi-final and final will be held during Family Fun Day on Monday 31st August. To accommodate these matches Junior Practice will move to Fridays on these two weeks only. GRA]YD SUIvIMER DRAW Members and supporters that have been issued with raffle tickets are asked to return them to either Ian Birtwistle orNigel Stockley as soon as possible. Assistance in selling more tickets would be appreciated. The draw will be held during the Family Fun Day. HARRY WOOD CUP FINAL This will not now be held at the Club next Sunday 9th August. The match has been postponed and will be rearranged on another date.The Fi nal will be contested between Attock and Whalley Road. JI.INIOR NOTICE Due to the six-a-side competition on Wednesday 12th and lfth August Junior Practice Night will move to Friday nights on these two weeks only. BEYOND THE BOUNDARY This major exhibition celebrating the Lancashire League will open at the Horse and Bamboo Centre, Bacup Rd, Waterfoot on Saturday August 15th and will run until Sunday September 13th. Viewingtimes are 10.30-5.00 Wednesday to Friday, 2-5 Saturday and I l-5 Sunday. SOUL NIGHT Following on frorn the successful Northern Soul nigbt during the winter, this not to be missed event will be held on Saturday 15th August. Admission will be f2 before 10pm and f,3 after. PRESIDENT'S NIGHT Featuring the hugely popular "'Wammy" our new President's inaugural event will be held on Friday 2SthAugust.Tickets cost f3.
