The Club Cricket Conference Yearbook 2020

- 42 - About 5 years ago we had a vision of NDCC being the top club in Sydney. Simple goals … Good coaching, good facilities, strong administration and a good environment in which to play cricket. The aim was to ensure that all cricketers maximised their potential. Last year we won an award, assessed by Cricket Australia, as being the No.1 rated club in NSW. We are a “Good Community Club”. We do more than other clubs. We set up a relationship with Special Olympics and have been coaching cricketers with intellectual disabilities for over 12 years. We run “Leadership Programs” for young cricketers to assist their development. We hold coaching clinics for hundreds of local kids. We take an under 16 age group on an overseas tour every 2 years. We run development squads in the winter months. We have engaged local businesses in sponsorship. We have worked hard on our relationship with council and local government members. In summary, we achieved many of our goals with the huge commitment from our amazing volunteers. There was one goal remaining that required a lot of money! … the facilities at Mark Taylor Oval. I have enclosed an excerpt from our overall strategic plan to produce one of the top facilities in Sydney Cricket. It contains the elements that secured the large government grant. It talks about: 1. Having a vision - Establish a hub for Cricket in northern Sydney via: • Recognised as a leader in women’s cricket • Host women’s international cricket match on Mark Taylor Oval by 2023 • Continue to produce first class & franchise players • Continue to build the pathway with local & adjacent cricket bodies for male, female, youth, school and All Abilities cricket Read it and Weep
