Dunstall CC Annual Report 2010

players to prosper and four of our B side have been selected for the District at either Under 10 or 11 level which reflects enormous credit on their efforts and development. The Kwiks this year were divided between girls and boys as our girls side made their first tentative (or at times distinctly confident) steps into competitive cricket. Because of the number of boys playing Under 11 hardball we were able to get many very young players having a go at Kwikcricket which they all seemed to enjoy. The girls were very successful and as many of you know we have enough girls to enter a team in the Under 11s competition this year. They will be competing under the style “East Staffs Cricket Development Group Girls” or ECDSG Girls because the District are anxious to provide a focus point for girls from other clubs to be able to come and play competitive cricket in an all girls team. However the lead is coming from Dunstall and we will be coaching and running the team. We look forward to another year of sustained success on the field. As always our parents have been wonderfully supportive and your many expressions of thanks are much appreciated by all involved. Finally the biggest thank you goes to those who are involved in producing pitch after pitch, rain or shine, Sunday or Tuesday. Many assisted but the main squad of Geoff Shilton John Jennings Chris Dytham and Ben Watkiss faced unprecedented challenges this year and praise and gratitude cannot be exaggerated. A.M. Indoor Cricket at Dunstall We are all used to the overlap of the ever extending football season encroaching upon cricket. Over the past few years Dunstall cricket has been reversing that trend by extending the season through the winter by taking part in Indoor Cricket. In the main this has been in Junior Leagues but Neil Roobottom has also organised a senior team that has been playing for a couple of years at the Willows Centre Derby which has kept players involved in the game during the winter months. The Juniors (Under 11s 13s and 16s) play on Saturday nights at Derby and on Wednesday nights (Under 11 Girls and Boys teams, Under 13 Boys and Mixed teams) at Paulet School in Stapenhill. Between them they have won a variety of trophies and we are currently East Staffs Champions at both Under 11 and Under 13. Apart from the trophies over 50 youngsters have taken part over the winter thus keeping them in touch and enthused about the game. A.M.
