A first defeat for Hammerwich who set a total of 121-3, which provided no problem to Dunstall opener Carl Eyden who stayed until the scores were level before leaving partner Matt Milnes to push the winning runs. o 9 th July: U15 Division, Dunstall 112-5 beat Alrewas 83-6 by 29 runs. A stumble mid-innings after Edward Chapman (30) had given them a solid start, but a late flourish from Nick Edwards (33*) allowed them to post a target which was too good for Alrewas. o U13 Division, Dunstall 106-6 beat Hartshorne 88-3 by 18 runs. o Will Raybould (29) gave Dunstall a good start, but it needed skipper Ben Simpson (24*) to pull the innings together. Hartshorne started quickly but despite this bright start and a solid innings by S Adams, they closed on 88-3. • Reported July 27, 1998 o 20 th July: U17 Division, Dunstall 164-2 (M Milnes 113) beat Hilton 112-4 by 52 runs. o Opener Matt Milnes competed a century with 3 x 6 and 16 x 4 as he shared a first wicket partnership with Chris Ingley. Hiton responded to the challenge set as Adam McGoldrick batted throughout and it was only when he lost his partner that the innings faltered in 112-4. o 16 th July: U15 Division, Dunstall 107-4 (T Suggate 38*, J Stevenson 22) beat Lullington 104- 6 (A Johnson 46, S Challiner 2-9) by 3 runs. o This top o the table clash was in doubt until the last ball was bowled. Dunstall scored freely, Tom Suggate shared a half century for the second wicket with James Stevenson (22) on the way to carrying his bat for 38. Two quick wickets applied the brakes to restrict the target to 107-4. Lullington opener Adam Johnson batted sensibly but when he was run out after Simon Challiner (2-9) had removed two of his partners; nine runs were needed in the final over but this proved too much with Dunstall victorious by the small margin of 3 runs. o U15 Cup Semi Final, Ind Coope 109-2 (Assad 61*) beat Dunstall 89-7 (T Chapman 31*|, T Witham 2-10) by 20 runs. o U13 Division, Dunstall 57-3 (A Pearce 30) lost to Ind Coope 59-4 (B Simpson 2-9) by 6 Wickets. In a match reduced to 15 overs per side, Dunstall only managed 57-3 and were unable to prevent Ind Coope reaching the target with overs to spare. • Reported August 3, 1998 o 27 th July: U17 Division, Dunstall 112-1 (C Eyden 57*, M Benstead 30*) beat Burton 100-9 (Chapman 4-14, Fern 4-1). Dunstall were restricted to 112-1 with Carl Eyden and matt Benstead batting soundly. When the Burton openers shared 81 for the first wicket the result did not seem in doubt, but Adam Fern 4-1 and Tom Chapman 4-14 caused an incredible collapse and Burton finished 100-9, 12 runs adrift.
