Sheffield Cricket Lovers' Society Year Book 2013

13 Sheffield Cricket Lovers’ Society summer to come. This was an important aspect of our success this season, where the seeds were planted for our Championship and T20 progress, winning the ARCH T20 Trophy. The Summer: April – September 2012 The County Cricket schedule is tough, and tests a squad to the limit. It is important during this period that we have the strategies in place to keep the players fit and on the field when time to recover is at a premium. Hopefully the training programmes and technical work the players did in the winter gives them the base to not only do their job, but gives them the capacity to recover, ready to play the next game after a usual quick turnaround. This was no more evident than T20 Finals day when the team that started the semi- final in the morning, was expected to start the final later in the day. In addition to rest, more active recovery strategies are vital. Exercise, general and specific strengthening and stretching programmes, adequate hydration, ice baths and massage all help the players to keep going…….and going…….and going! Hopefully the above enlightens you as to how we at Yorkshire work together in order to achieve success on the field, enabling us to extend the season a little longer in the hunt for silverware. As always the template for 2012 will be assessed and improved for 2013, so that in the Club’s 150 th Year, we can take the squad further hopefully winning the County Championship and One Day honours!
