Sheffield Cricket Lovers' Year Book 2014

39 Sheffield Cricket Lovers’ Society www.sheffieldcricketlovers.org.uk the YCCC and Derbyshire County Cricket Club age group setups. Hopefully we should also see the return of Joe’s brother, Billy, to SCCC for the 2014 season after his two year spell at the MCC Young Cricketers at Lord’s. Simon Guy (former Yorkshire CCC wicket keeper) is Head Coach for the next two seasons and this should encourage more players to progress through the junior setup at SCCC. This can only be done with the time provided by the coaches, team managers, parents who help with the “taxi service” and the financial assistance of our corporate sponsors. However, the cost of running SCCC continues to increase and we are currently organising additional social and fundraising events as well as providing opportunities for individuals to sponsor SCCC, for example, by agreeing to cover the cost of match balls for any game. We hope this will encourage family and friends to contribute to the running of the Club. Any assistance on any event is always appreciated too. And finally, in 2014 we have reinvigorated the Tour to Devon, not the eight match tour in the last week of May/first week in June as in 1969, but two days in Cheltenham/Bristol is a start!
