A stalwart supporter of both Altrincham FC and Timperley Cricket Club for many years, he was missed at both venues during 2018. His forthright (and often too truthful) comments on the standard of play he was seeing always bought a smile to all who shared his company from the sidelines. Visiting many grounds via public transport to show his support he would often turn up after matches had commenced. Parking himself somehere near the clubhouse always ensured that he never went unfed or unwatered and his assistance in finishing the Cricket teas was legendary. There are too many stories of Kenny’s loved impact at both Timperley and Altrincham to repeat but he is fondly remembered for his singing and no one will forget his renditions of ‘Old McDonald’ or ‘I swallowed a fly’ and his Altrincham FC support chant of ‘Zigga Zagga, Zigga Zagga’ is now immortilised on a large flag displayed at Moss Lane at home fixtures. Even when fixtures were not being played Kenny would contact staff during the week to keep them abreast of how Lancashire were doing or other matters as he saw fit. The affection in which he was held by both sporting communities was reflected by a turnout approaching 500 (?) at his funeral and he is sadly missed by his family and friends. The world is a duller place for his passing.
