TImperley CC Yearbook 2019

1 Report of Chairman Annual General Meeting 22 nd October 2018 Chairman’s report. Overview Back to the start to the new season in April we had a new 1st XI Captain in Nathan Brown, had recruited well over the winter and had a young ambitious squad in place for the new season. With Andy’s hard work over the winter the ground had recovered well. Both the 1st and 2nd XIs were playing in their respective Premier Leagues and the other senior and junior teams looking good. I looked forward to an exciting season both for playing and spectating members. After all, with the sad demise of our once local rivals Bowdon, Timperley was and continues to be the only place to play and watch Premier League cricket in Trafford this year. So how did the season unfold… Progress against objectives set at 2016 AGM At the 2016 AGM I set down my vision for the Cricket Section’s 150 anniversary year in 2027 and my 8 objectives for the coming years. These were endorsed by those members present and reported against at last year’s AGM. I intend to follow the same format this year. 1. TCC teams are regarded as competitive at all levels and age groups . Put simply we win things: leagues and cups. I will leave the captains to fill in the details but in summary the senior teams had a season of mixed fortunes  1 st XI: 3 rd in the CCCL Premier League. Top of the league for most of the of the season and with a bit of luck (for example getting the vital final wicket against Chester) we could easily have won the title and brought the league pennant back to Stockport Road. I must specifically thank Martin Porthouse for his work throughout the closed season to recruit and retain a highly capable 1 st XI squad.  2 nd XI: 11 th in the CCCL Premier League and relegated to Div 1. Not a great season with player unavailability making life difficult in a strong league a great effort from Rob Mathews in a difficult first season as captain.  3 rd XI: 6 th in the UKFast Cheshire Cricket League Division B East.  4 th XI: one place below the 3 rd XI finishing 7 nd in the UKFast Cheshire Cricket League Division B East.  Sunday XI: Runners up in the CCCL 3rd XI Sunday East Division 1. Another great season for Jurjees, just failing to gain promotion for the 3 rd year running.  Over 40s: not the best season failing to get through to the knockout stage Nathan will talk about the junior teams later.
