Nixon, who had left Worksop due to a lack of First XI opportunities, and captured all ten wickets for 65 runs, the last three in four balls, against Sheffield Collegiate; this was the first ten wicket haul in Division One. 50 Years Ago – 1962 The Minutes of the Management Committee meeting held on 17th April record that “the making of the fixtures had been delayed and, in part, had to be re-done owing to the fact that Duckmanton had been compelled to withdraw from the League; their ground was unavailable owing to it being needed for a junction to the new M.1 1962 was the last time that the championship of the League was shared, when the top of Division One, Section A looked like this: Played Won Lost Drawn Tied Points Gainsborough Britannia 22 11 2 9 0 53 Steetley Works 22 11 2 9 0 53 The bottom of the Division created a further dilemma with the teams in tenth and eleventh positions also having identical records: Played Won Lost Drawn Tied Points Langwith Colliery 22 3 9 10 0 22 Killamarsh Juniors 22 3 9 10 0 22 Whitwell Welfare 22 3 12 7 0 19 A play-off match was arranged between Langwith and Killamarsh which the former won by about 30 runs. Neither situation is likely to occur in the future as such instances are now decided by calculating and comparing the ratio of runs per wicket, for and against, of each of the teams. Full player registration was abandoned after 1962 in favour of only registering professionals. The system at that time was very inefficient, a quick comparison of two R. W.
