129 5. Umpires (i) Neutral umpires, appointed by the Hon. Umpires Appointments Secretary will officiate in all matches. (ii) Umpires expenses shall be £17 for each umpire, the cost to be shared by both clubs concerned, except in the Semi-Finals and Final when it shall be the responsibility of the Management Committee. 6. Match Regulations (i) A match may be played on an artificial pitch. (ii) New or used ball(s), of a specification in accordance with League Rule 3.8, and of a standard acceptable to both umpires, and to the opposing captain shall be provided by each team. (iii) Each team shall be allowed 20 six-ball overs or until the batting side is dismissed. In a match affected by weather, light, or unforeseen circumstances a minimum of 10 overs must be available to each team. (iv) The first five overs of each innings shall constitute a ‘Power Play’ whereby only two fielders are permitted to be outside the 30 yard inner markers / circle. (v) There shall be an interval of 15 minutes between innings. (vi) A time limit of 1 hour 15 minutes shall be allowed for each side to bowl 20 overs. (vii) A variation in time of 3 _ minutes per over shall be made if less than 20 overs are scheduled to be bowled. (viii) The batting side shall be awarded six penalty runs for each over begun after the time allowed. For each of any such overs the umpire at the bowlers end shall signal six runs to the scorers before the first ball is bowled. These shall be recorded as penalty runs. If the batting side passes its opponents total by either the award of Penalty runs and/or runs scored during the over, they shall be deemed to have won the match at that point’. (ix) Each bowler is allowed a maximum of 4 overs (x) At the instance of delivery a minimum of four fieldsmen (plus the bowler and wicket-keeper) must be within an area bounded by two semi-circles centred on each middle stump (each with a radius of 30 yards) and joined by a parallel line on each side of the pitch. In the event of an infringement the square leg umpire shall call No-ball. (xi) Wide Balls – Any ball, not being a No Ball, that passes the striker’s leg stump, irrespective of where that ball pitched, will be called and signalled a wide. It will not be a wide if the ball makes contact with the striker, his person or equipment, or the bat in hand before it passes the line of the stumps, or the ball passes between the striker and the leg stump.
