Spencer Shield Champions of Division Five The General Refractories Shield Champions of Division Six The Steetley Works Cup Champions of Division Seven The Sydney Cartwright Cup Champions of Division Eight (ii) In the event of two or more clubs tying for a Division championship the matter shall be resolved by taking account of the number of matches which the particular teams have won in the League during the season and, should this be equal, then the number of points from winning draws, and should this also be equal, then the ratio of the average number of runs scored for per wicket to the average number of runs scored against per wicket in League matches shall be the determining factor. (b) The Harry Tomlins Trophy shall be awarded to the winners of a knock-out competition open to all member clubs and played under rules approved by the Annual General Meeting. (c) The John J. Mallen Trophy shall be awarded to the winners of a Twenty20 competition played under rules approved by the Annual General Meeting 2.3 Promotion and Relegation (i) At the end of each season the top two teams in all Divisions below the top Division (Championship) shall be promoted. (ii) In order to keep the number of teams in each Division to a maximum of 12, relegations will be made of the teams finishing at the bottom of each Division, up to a maximum of three. (iii) If two or more teams finish the season on the same number of points, their positions will be determined by the following criteria, taken in order :- a) The number of matches won. b) The number of winning draws achieved. c) The ratio of the average number of runs scored for per wicket to the average number of runs scored against per wicket. iv) A team shall forfeit promotion in favour of the next eligible team if such promotion would result in a contravention of Rule 1.1(iii). (v) Should the relegation of a team result in a contravention of Rule 1.1(iii) the team in the lower Division that season shall be demoted, irrespective of its finishing position, instead of the team in the highest relegation position. (vi) The bottom two teams of the lowest Division at the end of the season shall apply for re-election to the League. Such applications shall be in writing and received by the League Secretary by the last day of September.
