35 The agreed number of overs to be allowed for the side batting first will apply to the side batting second unless the allocated overs of the side batting first are not taken up by them. The balance will then be added to the agreed number of overs of the side batting second. (ii) (ii) If, after 1 hour has elapsed, or after the game has started, interference by weather, light or unforeseen circumstances amounts to more than 30 minutes a time limit shall be applied from the time 5 hours [5 1 / 2 hours] after the scheduled start of play. (iii) When a time limit has been applied there shall, unless further interference occurs or the match is completed, be one hour's play or a minimum of 20 overs bowled. (iv) If further interference occurs when a time limit has been applied, or if time lost during the last hour of play causes a time limit to be applied, the number of overs to be bowled on any resumption of play shall be reduced, from the total of 20, by one over for each full 3 minutes which have elapsed after the scheduled commencement of the last hour. 3.6 Overs per Bowler (i) No bowler shall bowl more than 30% of the scheduled overs for the innings, as at the start of the game and rounded down to the nearest over; however, when a team has closed its innings by declaration, the scheduled overs for the second innings shall be revised to be the total available. (ii) In the event of a bowler being unable to complete an over for any reason, the over in progress shall be completed by any other player except the player who bowled the previous over. Any such parts of an over shall count as a full over towards each bowler’s allocation. (iii) The captain of the fielding side, in consultation with the umpire(s) and/or scorers, shall be responsible for ensuring that no bowler exceeds the quota of overs laid down by Rule 3.6(i) or the ECB Directives for Young Fast Bowlers. 3.7 Passage of Overs The passage of overs shall be indicated by a reducing number on the score board. 3.8 Ball (i) (i) All balls will be stamped as a BDCL ball and must be purchased through League arrangements as communicated. Each club shall provide its own ball for use when fielding. In the Championship Division, the match ball shall be new. In all other Divisions the match ball may not be new, but in all Divisions, the spare ball must not be new. In the Championship Division, the match ball must be: • Reader Sovereign In all other Divisions, the match ball must be any of the following: • Reader Sovereign - Reader County Match - Reader League Special
