206 The League Cricket Conference Established in 1962, the League Cricket Conference has grown into the largest representative body in League Cricket and today represents the interests of many Leagues throughout England and Wales. Whilst having no mandatory powers, the Conference does provide a platform for discussion and, if necessary, arbitration for matters of mutual concern to all Leagues and has been called upon in the past to discuss a wide range of topics, including discipline, the movement of clubs, experimental laws, contracts and matters of finance. The President’s Trophy, a Knockout Competition for Leagues wishing to participate, has been competed for since 1965, with a Plate Competition being introduced in 2004. The format of the knock out competitions was amended from 2006 – 2010 with the President’s Trophy being for Premier Leagues and others who wished to participate; non-Premier Leagues competed in a separate competition for the Cedric Rhoades Cup. The fall in the number of entries resulted in the two competitions merging from 2010 with the President’s Trophy being awarded to the winning League and the Rhoades Cup to the best performing non- Premier League.
