Mallen t20 Trophy – Rules & Playing Conditions 87 8.5 The Result (i) When both sides have had the opportunity of batting for the same agreed number of overs, the side scoring the higher number of runs shall be the winner. If the scores are equal, the result shall be determined by the following criteria, taken in order: a) The team that has lost the fewer wickets. b) The team with the higher score at the end of the 10th completed over. c) The team with the higher score at the end of the 9 th completed over, or if tied, the previous over, and so on until a winner can be decided. d) The toss of a coin. (ii) In an interrupted match, where the side in the 1 st innings batted for longer than the side in the 2 nd innings, a result can only be achieved if both teams have batted for at least 10 overs unless one team has been all out in less than 10 overs or unless the team batting second scores enough runs to win in less than 10 overs. In such circumstances, the result shall be determined by the following criteria, taken in order: a) The average run rate. b) The team that lost the fewer wickets at the end of the 10 th completed over. c) In Group Matches, the match to be declared ‘a tie’. d) On Finals Day, the toss of a coin. (iii) In a Group game, if a match is abandoned before it has been played to a conclusion and before the team batting second has received its allocated number of overs (providing that it has received not less than 10 overs or reached their target), the match shall be declared ‘No Result’. (iv) In a Group game, if a match is abandoned where no play was possible, the match shall be declared ‘No Result’. (v) On Finals Day, in the event of no result being obtained and where there is no reserve date on which to play the game (in accordance with Competition Rule 5(v)), the result shall be made by the toss of a coin between the two Captains when both Captains are present. In the event of the Captains not being able to be present, the tossing of the coin shall be referred to the League Secretary.
