The Umpires shall also inform the fielding team Captain after one hour’s play, the time remaining at the end of the drinks interval, and when one hour of play remains. The Umpire at the bowler’s end will inform the fielding Captain, the batsman and his fellow Umpire of any time allowances as and when they arise (this matter will not be subject to retrospective negotiation). 3.4 Matches not Interrupted or Delayed by Weather, Light or Other Unforeseen Circumstances (i) Each side shall bat for 50 overs (Championship) or 46 overs (Division 1‐7) unless all out earlier. (ii) If the side batting first should be dismissed or declare its innings closed before the end of its allocated number of overs, the side batting second shall have the balance of the allocated number of overs not occupied by the side batting first added to its allocated number of overs. An over which has been commenced at the time of dismissal or declaration shall be deemed to be complete. 3.5 Matches Delayed at the Start or Interrupted by Weather, Light or Unforeseen Circumstances (i) The number of overs shall be arranged so that both teams have the opportunity of batting for the same number of overs. No match shall be reduced to less than 80 overs (Championship) or 72 overs (Division 1‐7) scheduled at 40 overs (Championship) or 36 overs (Division 1‐7). If the side batting first should be dismissed or declare its innings closed before the end of its allocated number of overs, Rule 3.4(ii) shall apply. If the team fielding fails to bowl the required number of overs within the re‐ calculated time allowance, the provisions in Rule 3.3(viii) shall apply.
