9 Affiliations – The League Cricket Conference 177 The League Cricket Conference Established in 1962 the League Cricket Conference represents the interests of around 50 Leagues throughout England and Wales with the aim of fostering the game of cricket in competitive league conditions. It is also, in conjunction with the Club Cricket Conference and the Midlands Club Cricket Conference, a constituent of the National Cricket Conference, working with the England and Wales Cricket Board to further club and league cricket nationwide. During the last year, discussions have been ongoing between these organisations towards the signing off of a new partnership agreement, the outcome of which is awaited. Currently Conference is meeting just once a year in March when: • a n AGM is held to elect Officers and approve the Financial Statement • a general meeting discusses matters of current interest • a lunch is served • the Neil Edwards Awards for outstanding playing achievements in league cricket are presented. Inter‐league knock out competitions were held between 1965 and 2013 and the Bassetlaw League were champions of the main competition in 1971, 1976, 1978 and 1984, and the competition for non Premier Leagues in 2009.
