Bassetlaw and District Cricket League Official Handbook 2020

i  Foreword I am incredibly proud and humbled to be invited to be the President of the Bassetlaw  & District Cricket League for the 2020 season.  I will endeavour to perform the role to  the best of my ability.  For those of you that don’t know me, I have been a member of Anston CC for over 40  years, taking on a number of roles including player, Team Captain, Junior Coach,  Groundsman, Chairman and currently President.  It has been wonderful to see the  transformation of the Club over this period.  I have served on the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League Management Committee  taking on the role of Child Welfare Officer, serving on the Disciplinary Committee and  also as an Umpire in the league.  Last year, in the Queens Birthday Honours list, I received the British Empire Medal  (BEM) for services to cricket and the community within the region.  Although I am  immensely proud to receive this honour, I would like to think that it is also an award  for all the many volunteers I have worked with over the years many of whom are  involved in the BDCL.  I am looking forward to seeing many old friends, also making new ones, throughout  the coming season and to attend as many matches and grounds as possible.  2019  was an iconic year for English cricket as we won the ODI CWC for the first time.  My  hope is that we can build on this legacy and encourage as many men, women, boys  and girls to continue or commence playing our wonderful game.
