THE UKFast CHESHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE MATCH RULES FOR DIVISIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITIONS FOR BOTH 1ST AND 2ND ELEVENS 1. The League shall organise championships for all member clubs' Saturday sides, with Five Divisions for 1st XIs plus Divisions for other Saturday sides, known as 2nd XI cricket, playing under the auspices of the League. Each Division shall ideally consist of 12 teams and there will be promotion and relegation annually between each Division and between other Leagues as directed by these Rules. 2. Clubs engaged in the Divisional League Championships shall have fixtures with all other clubs during the season with a view to playing each other twice (weather permitting) and the respective championships shall be won by the Club having scored the highest number of points at the end of the season. 2nd XI teams in Divisions 'C' may have more or less than 12 clubs in their division and may play some teams only once. Matches scheduled for August in the lowest level of 2nd XI cricket can be re-arranged to any date and time providing that both teams provide written agreement to the Fixture ands Secretary 14 clear days before the original date of the match. The match can be re-arranged once only and if the re-arranged match is cancelled, or not completed it cannot be replayed, even on the original date. Matches can be played at any time, evenings or weekends and in any format, 80/90 overs draw or as a T20 match. 3.(a) Subject to special conditions incorporated in these rules, all League matches must be played under the “Laws of Cricket” as laid down by the M.C.C. at the time. In addition clubs must satisfy the ECB safety guidance on the use of helmets (detailed later in this book). In the case of a club flouting the directive and / or guidance without a satisfactory explanation to the Executive Committee, the League will take action including a fine and/or the deduction of points. (b) In all League matches, clubs must satisfy the ECB Fast Bowling Directive (detailed later in this book) for players under 19 as at prior 1st September. (c) In all League matches bowlers are restricted as follows based on the overs of play at the start 82-90 over match maximum 14 per bowler 72-80 over match maximum 12 per bowler 62-70 over match maximum 10 per bowler 50-60 over match maximum 8 per bowler overs. Allowances are not subsequently reduced in matches impacted by weather after play has started. The responsibility for ensuring compliance with these restrictions and the Fast Bowling restrictions for young players lies with the fielding side captain. Failure to observe these restrictions will result in a 2 point penalty for each excess over bowled and may lead to disciplinary action being taken against the fielding side captain. In all League matches bowlers are restricted to a maximum of 14 overs, failure to observe these restrictions may in penalties being imposed (fines and/or loss of points). 4. The League shall organise annually a bulk purchase of ‘Grade A’ cricket balls of a make to be decided by the Executive Committee. Clubs shall purchase these balls 88
