Cheshire Cricket League Handbook 2019

Chairman's Foreword The poor weather at the start of the 2018 season and the Football World Cup later in the summer proved to be very challenging for the UKFast League with the reorganisation of many games and cooperation between clubs being put to the test. As a League we value the honesty and integrity of all Clubs and these challenges provided fewer than expected issues and we are grateful to all our members for the manner in which they conducted themselves through these difficult times and their support in embracing the changes we are making to support grass roots cricket. Stockport Georgians 1st X1, Champions of Div 1 and Congleton as Runners Up were promoted to The Cheshire County League along with Hale Barns 2nd X1 who were Champions of Div A. Our best wishes to all three for a successful year. Our thoughts to Port Sunlight who were unable to take their place in The County League after finishing runners up in Div A. Congratulations to all The Winners and Promoted Clubs from Div 2, 3, and 4 , Div B and C's we wish you the best of luck for the coming season. A Warm welcome to Hawk Green to The UKFast League, Runcorn and Weaverham to Div 1, Northwich 2nds to Div A, Caldy and Burton to C. We wish them all a successful 2019 season in the League. Brian Davenport has been a Stalwart of Cheshire Cricket for many many years and his passing in 2018 was deeply felt across The County and beyond. As a mark of respect to his great work and dedication to Cheshire Cricket, the UK Fast Div 1 Championship trophy has been renamed in his honour. Cricket in Cheshire is healthy and it is our quest to ensure that future of our game is safe in the knowledge that we will always aim to provide Healthy Competition for all levels of Cricket within our structure for all our Clubs by seeking to forge closer ties within The 4C’s by adopting a mutually beneficial process based on mutual respect and democratic discussion between The two Cheshire Leagues. With this cooperation the long term union of both Leagues can work successfully together within the framework of the 4c’s and its equal governance to all the diverse aspects relevant to both Leagues with guaranteed autonomy and acceptance. I would like to express my gratitude to UKFast for their Sponsorship of our League and wish them every success in the coming years for their wonderful social and business ethos in the market place which is seen as a shining light to other company’s striving to achieve progress. All league executive Members work tirelessly on a voluntary basis for the good of all Clubs without prejudice. I would like to thank all of them for the hard work and perseverance over the past year. A special thank you to Richard White for all his years of service to the league and our best wishes for a long and happy retirement from the exec. My best wishes go to all the Clubs for a successful 2019 Season. Selwyn Stephenson March 2019 3
