Cheshire Cricket League Handbook 2022

Application of the Principles and Laws/Rules Finally, when there is a suspension of play due to rain, it is imperative that the umpires monitor the weather and are seen to be doing this on a regular basis in order that play can commence, or an inspection of the pitch can be made, as soon as the rain ceases. Blood Injuries The Executive Committee has considered the question of “blood injuries” on the field and has resolved that the following course of action should be followed: 1 If a player sustains a minor cut or graze which can be adequately treated quickly by the use of plaster, play should be suspended briefly to allow such treatment. 2 If a player is bleeding freely he will be instructed to leave the field of play for treatment. 3 In the case of a fielder he will be entitled to have a substitute at all times. 4 In the case of a batsman he will retire hurt and return at the fall of a later wicket or retirement of a later batsman. If he is one of the last batsmen at the wicket 10 minutes will be allowed for treatment, after which the innings will be deemed closed. 108
