Cheshire Cricket League Umpires & Scorers Association PRE MATCH MEETING A pre match meeting will be held between captains and standing panel umpires at least 15 minutes before the scheduled or rescheduled start of play of any League or Twenty20 match at which the following should take place: • Supervision of the toss, the result of which must be recorded on the sheet. • A fully completed team card to be presented to the umpires duly signed on the reverse. • Both match balls and any spares to be handed to the umpires. • The payment of umpires’ expenses for the match. • Clarification of over rate regulations and any local rules. • A clear statement of the umpires expectations in respect of behaviour based on The Spirit of Cricket as enshrined in the laws of the game. Umpires will advise captains that they are primarily responsible for their team’s behaviour and they will be reported along with any other individuals where it is felt necessary. • Confirmation of the appointed scorers and their position. In the event of either side not having a designated scorer the batting side must ensure a minimum of 2 people to undertake scoring and updating the scoreboard throughout. • The umpires to reserve the right to a brief post-match meeting with the captains when felt necessary. • Umpires are to advise captains that games will not begin until all the above points have been carried out to their satisfaction. 117
