Cheshire Cricket League Handbook 2022

Cheshire Cricket League Match Rules 1st & 2nd XI Divisional League Championship 20. Prior to the toss taking place the Captain (or Vice-Captain) of the home team shall represent his club on the question of the "fitness of ground for play" Home Clubs shall have the ultimate right to make decisions upon the fitness of their ground, but if the opposing team Captain (or Vice-Captain) insists, he can insist that both teams assemble at the venue for a late inspection to be made. In order to allow the opportunity for this right to be exercised, if the opposing Captain (or Vice-Captain) cannot be contacted for any reason, both teams must assemble at the venue. In the event of having informed the opposing club that play is not possible, but the away team insist upon travelling and no play takes place, then the AWAY team shall be responsible for paying both appointed umpires. In these circumstances, if the match is subsequently played then the HOME team shall be responsible for paying both appointed umpires. 21. The Executive Committee shall set up a League Panel of Umpires. The Panel will appoint Umpires for as many First and Second XI Championship matches as possible and in these matches, the Umpires shall be the sole judges of the fitness of the ground, weather and light for play. For all other First XI and Second XI Championship matches participating Clubs should attend the fixture with an Umpire, where only one non-playing Umpire is available then if he/she wishes, they should be used as the Bowling end Umpire, that Umpire shall be the sole judge of fitness of playing conditions. The sum to be paid by Clubs to Umpires appointed by the League Panel of Umpires, to cover their expenses, shall be fixed at each Annual General Meeting for the following year. The match expenses for 2022 have been fixed at £50.00 per umpire, when acting as a pair and £70.00 if standing alone and either fee should paid by both captains AT THE PRE MATCH MEETING . The 2022 match fee for the Twenty20 knock out matches are £30.00 per umpire or £40.00 if standing alone. These fees should also be paid IN CASH by both captains AT THE PRE MATCH MEETING . The umpires reserve the right to delay the start of the match if they do not receive team sheets, match balls and expenses at the pre-match meeting. Any delay caused will count as time lost and may result in loss of overs. 88
