Cheshire Cricket League Handbook 2022

Cheshire Cricket League Match Rules 1st & 2nd XI League KnockOut 1. The League shall organise Knock-out Competitions for both 1st and 2nd XIs of all member Clubs that choose to OPT-IN to the competition irrespective of their Divisional League status. ⦁ Teams will be asked once in January/February to OPT-IN . ⦁ Failure to do so will result in the team not being entered into the draw for the competition. ⦁ In all cup matches each side shall use a new pink ball. ⦁ Agreement should be reached between the umpires and captains ahead of the toss to establish the process for replacing balls in the event of loss. ⦁ Traditional coloured clothing may be worn, in which case the appointed umpires should be advised in advance. 2. A player having played in League Knock-out Competitions in any one season for one Club cannot play for another Club in the Competitions during that season and will therefore become “Cup-tied”. 3. A player representing a Club in the League Knock-out Competitions must be duly registered with the League for that Club in accordance with Rules 18, 19 and 20 of the Rules for 1st and 2nd Division League Championship Competitions for both 1st and 2nd Elevens. In the event of a Club playing an unregistered or ineligible (see Rule 4) player they will forfeit the tie. 4. In the case of the 2nd XI Knock-out Competition - a player who has played more than 50% of his League Championship games for his Club in the First XI up to any round, shall not be eligible for participation in the round in question. No club may play an unregistered overseas player in any 2nd XI match without the prior approval of the Executive Committee of the League. For clubs with 3rd, 4th or 5th XIs, where their 2nd XI play in the Cheshire County Cricket League, a player shall only be eligible for participation in the '2nd XI KO Competition' if he has played 50% or more of his championship games for the 3rd, 4th or 5th XI up to any round. 5. If either competing team is unable to field eleven players they shall be reported to the Executive Committee at their monthly meetings by the Fixtures Secretary. On receiving a report the Committee may at their discretion fine the offending Clubs up to a maximum of £10.00 for each offence in 1st XI matches. 93
