Cheshire Cricket League Match Rules 1st & 2nd XI Divisional League Championship 21. The Executive Committee shall set up a League Panel of Umpires and appoint an Appointments Secretary. The Appointments Secretary will appoint Umpires for as many First and Second XI Championship matches as possible and in these matches, the Umpires shall be the sole judges of the fitness of the ground, weather and light for play. For all other First XI and Second XI Championship matches participating Clubs should attend the fixture with an Umpire, where only one non-playing Umpire is available then if he/she wishes, they should be used as the Bowling end Umpire, that Umpire shall be the sole judge of fitness of playing conditions. The sum to be paid by Clubs to Umpires appointed by the League Panel of Umpires, to cover their expenses, shall be fixed at each Annual General Meeting for the following year. The match expenses for 2023 have been fixed at £60.00 per umpire, when acting as a pair and £90.00 if standing alone and either fee should paid by both captains AT THE PRE MATCH MEETING . The 2023 match fee for the Twenty20 knock out matches are £35.00 per umpire or £50.00 if standing alone. These fees should also be paid IN CASH by both captains AT THE PRE MATCH MEETING . The umpires reserve the right to delay the start of the match if they do not receive team sheets, match balls and expenses at the pre-match meeting. Any delay caused will count as time lost and may result in loss of overs. 22. Competing Clubs should appoint their own scorer for each Championship Match. All 1st XI Division 1 teams are required to provide a scorer for all League Championship matches. Failure to do so will in a fine of £25.00. On the 3rd transgression, and each subsequent transgression, the team will additionally incur a 5 point deduction. The scorer shall not be a player and shall be in post for a majority of the match. Failure to provide a scorer shall be reported on the sheet by the umpires. 88
