8 15. Hours and Conditions of Play 15.1. Midweek Divisions Matches in Midweek Divisions and Knock-out Cup matches shall start at 6.15pm and will be reduced by one over per innings for every 5 minutes that the start is delayed. It is the duty of both sides to uphold the Spirit of the game’ and ensure that a game is not unduly delayed awaiting players. The captains must decide before the match whether the minimum of eight six-ball overs or the maximum of 20 six-ball overs shall be bowled. In all matches in the Midweek League, bowlers shall be limited to a maximum of 20% of the overs bowled. For example in a 20 over match no bowler shall bowl more than four overs and in a sixteen over match, one bowler could bowl four overs and four bowlers could bowl a maximum of three. 16. Players Crossing The outgoing batsman must meet the incoming batsman at the boundary rope. Umpires must report any flagrant breach of this rule. 17. Playing Equipment Each Batting side shall provide the balls for their own innings. It shall not be compulsory to provide a new ball, but the ball provided must be leather covered and approved as fit for play by the opposing club captain or umpires, and must be in their possession before the fielding side takes the field. When using spring loaded stumps without bails, the whole of the stumps (everything carried out to the crease including the base) constitutes the wickets. 18. Match Result The Secretary of the home club must advise the appropriate Secretary (see page two) of the results of each match (whether cancelled or not) on the official scoresheet provided, by email, WhatsApp or the club pitchero website not later than 48 hours following the match. The scoresheet must be completed in full, listing all 22 players, regardless of whether all have batted. A fine as per Rule 32 will be imposed for non-compliance with this rule. Both clubs should have an agreed record of the scoring of the game in their scorebooks, and this should be retained until the season is complete. It is essential that this is kept correctly, with batsmen’s scores, score and overs, total score, and individual over breakdowns and bowling figures an absolute minimum. It is recognised good practice that the batting side should cover the scoring of a game when a fielding side has only 11 representatives present. At the end of each innings the scorebooks should be checked and agreed by both captains to avoid disputes arising as a match or season progresses. 19. Umpires Where possible neutral umpires will officiate in matches. If this is not the case the batting side must provide umpires who must act, within the spirit of the game. Any breaches should be reported to the League. 20. Payment of Umpires The neutral umpire's fee shall be shared by both clubs equally. If a match has been cancelled but the umpires have not been informed of such a cancellation and they report to the ground to officiate at the match, the umpires shall be paid half fee plus any expenses incurred. Where there is only one umpire at a match the fee shall be one fee plus half a fee.
