LIncolnshire County Cricket League Handbook 1972

CHAIRMAN'S PREFACE Much of the content of this Handbook highlights the performances and achievements of those fortunate enough to· be blessed w ith above average ability with either bat or ball or both. Whilst offering my sincere cong ratulations to this sect ion of our Members, I w ant to pay tribute to the vita l role played by others whose names never fin d their way into the Honours List. Firstly, the " other" Members of sides, particularly t he stalwarts of second and third elevens, who provide the reserve strength that is the foundation of every successful Club. Secondly, the umpires, who despite being the target for criticism and abuse, continue to devote larg e slices of their leisure time to the game. Thirdly, the many officials and non-playing Club Members-particularly the Ladies-who, by their hard work and financial assistance, keep the Clubs solvent and operational. Without these t hree groups of people, t here ~ uld be no Clubs-no cricket- no Honours List-and no League Chairman to wish all players, officials, umpires and spectators a successful, but above all, enjoyable 1972 cricket season.
