LIncolnshire County Cricket League Handbook 1972

THE LEAGUE CRICKET CONFERENCE TROPHY The Lincolnshire League Xl's bid to add to its tremen– dous record of success in the League Cricket Con– ference Trophy competition failed last season in most unsatisfactory circumstances. Called upon to travel to Ossett, to meet the Yorkshire Council side in the Second Round, the Lincolnshire team was initially unimpressed by the venue and latterly angry over the conditions in which they were called upon by the umpires to bowl out the Yorkshire Council XI. Consistent rain made it impossible to handle the ball properly during the Council's innings and the Trophy, which had been ours for three out of the l our previous seasons, was thus surrendered in most disappointing circumstances. In the First Round the League side had disposed of the Saddleworth League in their usual competent manner. That was a home tie but, unfortunately, the draw for the coming season ensures that one of the Lincolnshire side's matches, which have proved so popular in recent seasons, will be within their home county. The full draw for the 1972 competition, and up-to-date records of team and personal performances since the Lincolnshire League first participated, are detailed on this and following pages.
