Umpires are urgently needed Each season for a variety of reasons the number of people available to do this important work decreases, and for the same variety of reasons others find that they are not able to take as many appointments as previously. Utopia is having two umpires at each match, but this state becomes harder and harder to achieve, and in many cases absolutely impossible. Have you some available time, to assist in this way, and enjoy further activity and involvement in the game. Scorers If the thought of being in the limelight in the middle does not appeal to you, how about being equally active and involved as a scorer. This is a very necessary and important job and increases your interest in the game. Courses can always be arranged. Umpires secretaries shown elsewhere in this handbook, will be pleased to give you information. Coaches There is a lot of scope for coaches to work, either at Club level or on one of the many courses staged for the younger age groups. The ECB have recently amended the levels of coaching making more stages in the progression to the top.
