Lincolnshire County Cricket League Official Handbook 2017

League Chairmans Message 2017 Season As I sit here in the middle of a heatwave in Sydney my thoughts are drawn towards what I expect is a cold Lincolnshire and the arrival in a couple of months time of the start of what I expect to be an exciting season as Chairman of the finest, most competitive League in the County. Hopefully the handbook is complete and I've endeavoured, with the valuable assistance of Stuart Langford, to eradicate the errors of the past years in order that whoever takes over the responsibility from me for 2018 and beyond has a much simpler task than I had two years ago. The Annual Dinner / Presentation Evening is our major event and I'm pleased that following Graeme Fowler, last years Speaker, we have Peter Bowler to entertain us at this years Dinner which will again be held at Hemswell Court. Making the move from a shared event with the Grimsby League was a major move for us but I must say that it has proved to be an immense success for the League. No Chairman in the History of the League has had such stalwart support as I've enjoyed over the years from Jack Swain, John Morton, Jerry Wilson et al to Preston Wallhead, Glen Sands, Nigel Fisher and Brian Simpson with apologies to those I've left out because of lack of space. I do think that 4 years as Vice Chairman and 25 years as Chairman is not quite what I expected when Dennis Allison nominated me, but in the main I've enjoyed my time in Office. This League, as any other League, needs willing volunteers to take on the roles which will become vacant this October. I would urge you all to elect Officers who are willing to commit to the roles, ensuring that the League thrives through some interesting and maybe even difficult times ahead. I must stress though that I am more than a little disappointed to be standing down but I feel that the time has come to put me first and cricket second for a change. The advent of County Cricket Boards from the old Cricket ?.
