146 COLNE Colne created a recordwhen theywon the Championship in 1910with all ten amateurs playing under a birth qualification. W.E.Alley (pro) was the first batsman in the League to score over 1000 runs in 5 successive season (1948-52). Colne in 1959 won the Senior Championship and the Worsley Cup, thus performing the double for the first time in the Club’s history. On July 23rd 1983, Colne in their game against Rawtenstall scored 278 for 5 wickets, a new record score for a game of 34 overs. On 31st July 1999 Colne 3rds made 298-6 and Ramsbottom made 299-5 597 runs in a day a 3rd eleven record. Collis King (pro) made 179 against Todmorden on 28th August 1982, the highest individual score since limited over were introduced. On 17th July v Enfield he scored 42 runs in one over (2 no balls) 4, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6, 4, 2, 6, 0. Geoff Marsden scored 178 for the 3rd team against Ramsbottom on 31st July 1999. Marcus North hit 172 not out on 13th May 2001, the highest ever individual score at Bentgate, Haslingden. Matt Wilson hit 194 for the 2nd team against Todmorden on 18th May 2003. David Swarbrick set a newwicket keeping record in 2003 with 50 victims (43ct 7 st). EASTLANCASHIRE In 1949, East Lancs, became the first Club to win the Senior and Junior League Championships and the Worsley Cup in one season for the second time by repeating their 1947 successes. East Lancs, achieved the "Double" of Senior Champions and Cup winners in two successive years in 1951 and 1952 and in 1980 performed the "Double" for the sixth time, their other successes occurring in 1947, 1949 and 1966. East Lancs, can claim the distinction of playing a season without suffering a defeat, each in a Championship year, in 1947, 1951 and 1973 East Lancs, won the Senior Championship in 1980 with the highest number of points, 97, since bonus points and limited overs were introduced, and they surpassed this in 1990winning the Championshipwith 102 points. Ray Kelly, in his career took 571 league victims (404 ct 167 st) and a further 63 victims in cupmatches. On 26th April 2003 East Lancs made 300-7 against Lowerhouse at Alexandra Meadows which is the highest score by East Lanes in League Cricket. On 1st August 2004 a league record aggregate total of 614 runs was accrued as Church scored 306 for 4 and East Lancs repliedwith 308 for 2. In 2005 East Lancs, set 2 new highest totals for the Club 326-7 against Todmorden in the league and 327-4 against Bacup in the cup.
