The LancashireTelegraph sponsor the Second ElevenKnockout Cup. This year the final was hosted byHaslingdenwith Ramsbottom the visitors. Haslingden batted first and skipper Rob Marcroft and Michael Ingham put together a stand of 51 for the first wicket but steadily lost wickets and were 109 for 5 before Matt Marcroft and Charlie Hamilton helped post a respectable 192 for 5 from their overs. In reply, Ramsbottomwere soon in trouble at 18 for 5 and never recovered with extras being top scorer in a final total of 98 all out. This was Haslingdens fifth Junior Cup and completed their third double, following those completed in 1992&1998. As mentioned earlier, Moorhouses Brewery took over sponsorship of the 20/20 competition. The first round of matches were played in glorious weather and Ramsbottom professional Pieter Malan hit a record 165 not out at Rawtenstall. Unfortunately the weather didn't last and many matches were decided via tosses of coins or bowl outs. Church hosted Haslingden in one semi final and Ramsbottom were at home to Todmorden. Ramsbottom chased down Todmordens 85 but Haslingden couldn't overcome Church's 152 and the final was drawn at Ramsbottom for the followingweek but guess what? The weather intervened again and the final wasn't played until the 13th July. Church made 118 for 7 with Lloyd Aspin top scoring with 40.Ramsbottom were struggling at 41 for 4 until Jon Fielding produced a captains innings leading his side to a third successive 20/20 final success. Pieter Malan made most runs as a Professional with 947 three centuries & six 50's with atop score 115 not out for Ramsbottom QaiserAbbas took 96 wickets for Todmorden with seven five wicket hauls and a best of 8 for 16 pippingAdnan Rasool by one wicket. Themost remarkable performance was that of Daniel Salpietro of Rishtonwho took all ten wickets 10 for 34 against Rawtenstall, the first time since 1988 and the 25th person to achieve the feat.
