94 LOWERHOUSE - Cobus Pienaar (SouthAfrica) Cobus represents the Titans Franchise in South Africa is a left handed batsmen and right armmedium fast bowler. Also the captain of the Northerns state side, 28 year old Cobus has played 65 first class games, scoring 3268 runs at 33.01 with a best of 185. His bowling has captured 131wickets at 30.20with a best of 5-34. In the 2013-2014 domestic season Cobus helped Titans to the final of the Momentum One Day Cup with vital runs batting at number 3 and important wickets as Titans recovered from a poor start to their campaign to reach the final against Cape Cobras. Bad weather curtailed the final and the cup was shared. In the longer format Cobus bats at 3 for both Titans and Northerns regularly bowling first change. Cobus has played league cricket in the UK previouslymaking Lancashire League sub professional appearances for Nelson and Bacup and playing in the Northern League for Netherfield and the Birmingham Premier League for Knowledge and Dorridge CC. A talented wicketkeeper/batsman by trade he plays for Boland in his native South Africa. In his first season at Seedhill, Canning scored 931 runs at 46.5, including ten half centuries and a top score of 79. The 29 year-old has extensive UK club experience and has previously played for Exmouth, Wolverhampton and Oxford. RAMSBOTTOM - Daryn Smit (SouthAfrica) Ramsbottom CC have signed SouthAfrican Daryn Smit as their professional for 2014. The 30 year-old play's for the Nashua Dolphins. In 2009 he was Professional for Littleborough CC in the Central Lancashire League and scored over 1300 runs and took 78wickets with his leg-spin. During his spell at Littleborough in 2009, Smit stood in as sub professional for Lowerhouse against Enfield hitting an unbeaten 79 and taking 4-49 in a 4 wicket win. Since making his First-class debut in 2004, Smit has hit 3294 runs at 32 with three centuries and nineteen half centuries. He has also taken 70 wickets with a best of 4-50. Smit will be Ramsbottom's tenth SouthAfrican professional.
