Lancashire League Handbook 2015

47 v) Aminimum of 20 full overs per team must be bowled to constitute a completed game unless a result has already been achieved. vi) If the delay prior to the start of the game is such that it is deemed by umpires that there will not be sufficient time for the Team batting second to receive its full complement of 20 overs, then the game shall not be commenced. If there is a delay or further delay occurring after the commencement of the game such that it is deemed that there is not sufficient time for the Team batting second to receive its full complement of 20 overs then the game shall be declared an uncompleted match. However either Captain shall have the right to continue with the match on the basis that (a) their opponent's total can be passed within the overs to be received or (b) their opponents can be totally dismissed within the number of overs to be bowled. Thus it is possible for a definite result to be achieved in a match where the side batting last becomes entitled to receive less than 20 overs vii) If a start is delayed by weather a match shall not commence after 4.30pm. The reason being that the time allowed will not permit the minimum20 overs to be bowled. It will be declared a “no result”. viii) During a match: ground, weather and/or light conditions, injury/illness to players/officials, may cause the deduction of overs from either/both innings. All calculations for the deduction of overs are based on “Time Lost”. For the purpose of this rule, all references to “Time Lost” are to be calculated as follows. “Time Lost” will be the number of minutes counted from the start of any interruption or delay, to the time agreed by the Umpires for play to start or re-start. This means that if play should start /re-start earlier or later than the designated time decided by the Umpires, the original calculation will remain unchanged. 3.4. In a game delayed or interrupted by ground and/or weather conditions providing time allows the side batting second to receive 20 or more overs (it being acknowledged that the Teammay not need to receive the said number of overs to pass the first innings score and thereby win the match) the target score to be achieved by the side batting second shall be calculated on the following basis: i) Divide the runs scored in the first innings by the number of overs received in order to arrive at the first innings runs per over rate. (For this purpose any part over received shall constitute a full over). In the event of a side being dismissed within the total number of overs that it was entitled to receive in the time allotted for the first innings, the run rate will be calculated by dividing the runs scored by the total number of overs which the Team was entitled to have received rather than the number of overs actually received. ii) Calculate 75% of the runs per over rate in i) above. iii) Multiply the reduced run rate at ii) by the number of overs lost in the second innings. iv) Calculate the reduced target to be achieved by the Team batting
