BURNLEY Burnley won the Championship with the lowest number of points, 34 in 1907. In 1937 at Turf Moor, East Lancs, declared at 199 for 3 wickets and Burnley in reply scored 202 for 2 wickets in 74 minutes. Burnley in 1950 created a Club record by winning the Senior Championship and the Worsley Cup in that season, this being their first “Double” success. Peter Brown retired in 1998 having made a half century against every other club. 48 in total (41 league 7 in cup). Jonathan Clare at the age of 17 years 10 months, 10 days became the youngest ever player to score a century in a Lancashire League match at Bentgate on 24th April 2004. In 2006, Jonathan made the highest ever score by a Burnley amateur in limited overs 11th June 2006 against East Lancs with 161. In 2009 Bharat Tripathi, with 76 wickets, established a new amateur bowling record by surpassing Trevor Jones 30 year old record of 72 from 1979. In achieving the record he took the same number of wickets as the 2 leading professional, Anwar Ali (Colne) & Gary Brent (Enfield). On 19thAugust 2012 during the home game v Bacup, play was suspended to allow the Air Ambulance to land for emergency purposes. In 2015 Burnley were the first team to win the Worsley Cup on 3 consecutive occasions on the way to winning all four Senior Trophies, again another unprecedented achievement. Their Second Team also won the Junior League during the same season with the Third team runners up in their division.
