147 Church reached the 6th Round of the FA Cup. Church amateur player Richard “Dick” Pilling went on to play 250 first class matches for Lancashire and 8 Test Matches for England. A long line of Church wicketkeepers have gone on to play for Lancashire with Bill Heys, Dick Pilling, William Pilling, William Worsley and John Whewell all representing the County. Jack Houldsworth finished his playing career with Church in 1987 with 1247 league and cup wickets and on 84 occasions he took 5 wickets or more in Senior league and Cup matches. On 23rd June 2002 against Lowerhouse in the semi-final of the Worsley Cup Church scored of 325 all out, a club record. On 18th May 2003 against Rishton Greg Mail scored 180 setting a club record for the highest individual score in league or cup for Church. Ruvin Pieris in 2007, in his fourth and final year at Church, became the professional with the highest total of league runs for the Club with 4277 at an average of over 50 and he also took 214 league wickets. Nasser Hussain 132no and Levi Wolfenden 100no became the first Church amateurs to score centuries for the Club in the same match against Colne on 30th April 2011. Lloyd Aspin performed a double of 500 runs and 50 wickets in league and cup matches in 2012. From 16th June until the end of August in 2013, Church recorded 13 victories and set a club record for the number of consecutive matches unbeaten since the introduction of limited overs cricket. COLNE Colne created a record when they won the Championship in 1910 with all ten amateurs playing under a birth qualification. W.E.Alley (pro) was the first batsman in the League to score over 1000 runs in 5 successive season (1948-52). Colne in 1959 won the Senior Championship and the Worsley Cup, thus performing the double for the first time in the Club’s history. On July 23rd 1983, Colne in their game against Rawtenstall scored 278 for 5 wickets, a new record score for a game of 34 overs. On 31st July 1999 Colne 3rds made 298-6 and Ramsbottom made 299-5 597 runs in a day a 3rd eleven record. Collis King (pro) made 179 against Todmorden on 28th August 1982, the highest individual score since limited over were introduced. On 17th July v Enfield he scored 42 runs in one over (2 no balls) 4, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6, 4, 2, 6, 0. Geoff Marsden scored 178 for the 3rd team against Ramsbottom on 31st July 1999.
