Lancashire League Handbook 2016

17 This is Ramsbottom’s 12th Junior Cup and their 7th since the Telegraph started their sponsorship. Moorhouses Brewery continued their sponsorship of the 20/20 competition which was this year played under a revised two group format of Blond Witch and Pride of Pendle Groups. The group winners were Enfield and Lowerhouse and they were joined by Burnley and Rawtenstall in the semifinals. At Dill Hall Lane, Burnley batted first and made 184 for 3 from their 20 overs with Vishal Tripathi top scoring with 69 not out supported by a match changing innings of 47 from Steve Brunt which earned him the man of the match award. In reply Enfield looked in command on 78 for 1 but Cole Hayman then struck to remove skipper Adam Bracewell and pro van Buuren and Enfield ended 18 runs short. At Lowerhouse, Rawtenstall also won the toss and batted and thanks to an opening stand of 84 which had Chris Cook Martin as the main contributor with 53 Rawtenstall made 163 for 4 from their overs. Lowerhouse made a fight of it thanks to 41 from Jonny Whitehead and 31 from Chris Bleazard but came up 36 runs short. Rawtenstall were in their first final and were drawn at home but the match was blighted by poor light and in 2016 we will be starting the final at 5:45 to try and alleviate this. Burnley batted first and a solid 82 from David Brown was the basis of a total of 171 for 5. Rawtenstall’s reply was steady but 3 wickets each for professional Chris Holt, skipper Bhrarat and brother Vishal restricted them to 105 all out to earn Burnley their second T20 title. Daryn Smit made most runs as a Professional with 1248 (3 centuries & 11 50’s and a top score of 137 no) for Ramsbottom breaking Brad Hodges club record from 2001 in the process. He had an average of 113.45. Chris Holt took 82 wickets for Burnley with 8 five wicket hauls and a best of 7 for 32 to end as top wicket taker. Awards are made to the outstanding individual amateurs for both season and match day performances. The Senior Batting award is made to the amateur batsman scoring most runs in league matches during the season. In Third place with 851 runs which would normally probably have won the award, 3 centuries and three 50’s and a top score of 125 not out was Adam Bracewell of Enfield.
