17 This was Todmorden’s 6th 2nd eleven championship and their first since 1920. In the Third Eleven Championship,by the end of May Todmorden led the table with a 4 wins out of 4 by 2 points from Church who had also won all 4 games. Nelson took over at the top by the end of June by 2 points from Haslingden and Todmorden were now in third. July ended with Church leading by 9 points but they had crucially played two games more than Haslingden. Haslingden won both of their games in August and importantly Church lost to Todmorden leaving Haslingden 14 points clear with 2 games to play. All three fixtures scheduled for the penultimate weekend. were abandoned without play and consequently Haslingden had an unassailable lead. Church won their final game to end the season 8 points behind the champions whose last game was also washed out. This is a back to back win for Haslingden and the fifth time they have taken the trophy. In the Worsley Cup, there were first round wins for Burnley, Church, Nelson, Haslingden, Rishton and Enfield and they were joined in the second round by Lowerhouse and Rawtenstall. Burnley, Enfield, Church and Haslingden progressed to the semifinals which were drawn as Burnley v Enfield and Church v Haslingden. At Turf Moor, Burnley were asked to bat by Enfield and professional Chris Holt led the way with 103 as he was joined in a partnership of 110 by Daniel Pickup who made 48. Burnley made 209 for 7 from their 50 overs. In reply Enfield lost 3 wickets for 35 until Adam Bracewell and skipper Tiarnan Hamill took the score to 107 but wickets continued to fall and they finished 46 runs short to put Burnley into a fourth successive final. At Church, there was a similar story with one batsman making a century and his partner scoring 48 not out. Phil Hayes made 106 not out and Alex Coleman 48 in an unbroken stand of 103. Haslingden professional Babar Naeem them turned the screw on Church with a return of 9 overs, 3 maidens 4 wickets for just 11 runs as Church were bowled out for 118. The final was at Turf Moor for a repeat of the 2013 final but this time Haslingden won the toss and batted first. Haslingden slipped to 39 for 3 and Lee Ingham top scored with 41, in a total of 170 for 9 from their overs.
