19 Todmorden lost Ashton Turner early in the innings and fell to 79 for 9 until Graham Lalor struck a useful 25 to give the hosts some hope but he was eventually stumped with 12 runs still needed and Church had earned their second T20 title in 3 years. Sean von Berg made most runs as a Professional with 955 runs (1 centuries & 7 50’s and a top score of 113 no) for Rishton. Highest score by a professional was 126 not out by Ryan Bailey for Nelson at Todmorden on 15th May. Sean was also top wicket taker with 75 wickets at 9.28 and 8 five wicket hauls and a best of 7 for 21. The best bowling by a professional was 8 for 21 by Ockert Erasmus against Bacup at Accrington on 6th August. The Senior Batting award is made to the amateur batsman scoring most runs in league matches during the season. In Third place in 2016 with 643 runs including 6 fifties was Ben Heap of Lowerhouse. In second place was David Brown of Burnley, for the second successive season, with 758 runs, a top score of 162 not out against Nelson, 3 half centuries and Six Sixes in an over at Bacup on the 4th of September. But the winner this year with 959 runs, a top score of 140 no and 8 half centuries and with an average of 63.93 which is better than last year was Vishal Tripathi of Burnley. The Senior Bowling award is made to the amateur bowler who takes most wickets in league matches during the season. In Third place with 48 wickets was Minhaj Bhada of East Lancashire. Second was Paddy Martin of Lowerhouse with 49 wickets. But in top place this year was a bowler who took 51 wickets at 9.92 with a best of 6 for 15, Bharat Tripathi of Burnley. In wicketkeeping, 3rd place went again to Chris Burton of Burnleywith 28 victims, 20 catches 8 stumping’s. In second place was Sam Tillotson of Colne with 30 victims 19 caught and 11 stumped. But in top place there was a new recipient with 34 victims (23 caught and 11 stumped), Matthew Nuttall of Rishton. The younger players are the future of the League and in recognition the League make awards to the batsman and bowler under 23 with the most runs and wickets during the season.
