20 The winner of the U23 batting award went to 18-year-old Kieren Grimshaw of Accrington who made 506 runs with 4 fifties, a top score of 67. The bowling award for U23’swas won by a bowler who took 44 wickets at an average of 16 and a best of 7 for 45, Levi Wolfenden of Church. Further awards are usually made to the U23 player who in the opinion of the League Executive has had the best performances, and these have normally been on a bi monthly basis. However, this year’s weather meant that we had lack of performances to adjudge awards and therefore we settled for an overall winner. The Milton Lord Trophy fittingly went to a player who scored two centuries during the season, scored 495 runs and took 44 wickets, so close to joining the mini double club, Levi Wolfenden of Church. The Lancashire Telegraph sponsor tankard awards which are greatly appreciated by the players. The Batting Tankard is awarded for the best individual innings in a match. This year’s winner went to David Brown of Burnley who scored 162 not out for at Home to Nelson on the 5th of June. The Bowling Tankard is presented to the bowler with the best Amateur Bowling performance in a match. The winner was Ben Dowling of Enfield who took 7 for 25 for Enfield on the 21st August at Bacup. The Telegraph also make an award to the wicketkeeper with most victims and with 6 victims, 4 caught and 2 stumped, at Burnley on 17th July Nick Payne of Rawtenstall. The Bill Harrison Trophy is awarded to the best performance by an Under 23 player in a match and this was won by Levi Wolfenden of Church for his 133 against Haslingden in the last match of the season. Several players achieved career milestones this year: Jonathan Finch of Lowerhouse, Vishal Tripathi of Burnley and Phil Hayes of Haslingden 5000 runs. Charlie Cottam & Ben Heap of Lowerhouse, John Turner of East Lancs and Levi Wolfenden of Church 4000 runs. Simon Hanson of Accrington 3000 runs. Keith Roscoe of Rawtenstall 1700 wickets and his 1500th for Rawtenstall. Jonathan Fielding of Ramsbottom 700 wickets. Bharat Tripathi of Burnley, James Hayhurst of Accrington 400 wickets. Simon Read of Ramsbottom 300 wickets.
