Lancashire League Handbook 2017
68 MOORHOUSE’S BREWERY LANCASHIRE LEAGUE 20/20 COMPETITION RULES 2017 1. The Competition Committee The Competition shall be run by the Competition Committee consisting of the League President, Assistant Secretary, Deputy Chairman and two League Representatives nominated by the League Committee. 2. Group Stages For the initial stage of the Competition the Clubs within the League will be divided into such Groups as may be decided by the Competition Committee. In 2017 there will be two groups of 6 Clubs and one of 5 Clubs. 3. In the initial Group stage each Club will play once against all other Clubs in its group home or away. Two points will be awarded for a Win, one point for a Tie or No Result and no points for a Loss. 4.1 Positions in the Group tables will be determined by the number of points obtained at the end of the Group stage. If two or more Clubs are equal on points, positions will be determined by overall net run rate. A Club’s net run rate is calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team (including any penalty runs imposed under Rule 16.3), the average runs per over scored against that team. Only those matches where results are achieved will count for the purpose of net run rate calculations. In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs the calculation of its net run rate shall be based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was dismissed. e.g. a team which was entitled to receive 20 overs and was dismissed in 14 overs would have its run rate calculated as if it had received 20 overs. 4.2 If still equal, the teams will be ordered according to which team achieved the most points in the matches played between them 4.3 In the event that teams cannot be separated by (1) to (2) above, this will be done by drawing lots. 5. Quarter Finals & Semi Finals Quarter Finals will be contested between eight clubs being the top three teams from the two groups of 6 and the top two teams from the group of 5. The top team from each of the three groups together with the best runner-up (i.e. the Club other than the Group winners with the highest average points per game or, if two or more Clubs are equal, the best overall net run rate etc. as in Rule 4) will have the benefit of a home draw. The four winning quarter finalists will proceed to a finals day the venue for which shall be drawn by the Competition Committee along with the semi final pairings.
