The Third Eleven Champions were Clitheroe Thirds who Won 12 and lost just 3 games with 146 points to Runners up Haslingden’s 139. Haslingden had 11 wins and 4 defeats. The Worsley Cup saw a preliminary round in 2017 with Lowerhouse defeating Rawtenstall to take their place in the First Round where they then lost to East Lancashire who took their place the quarter finals along with Accrington who ended Burnleys long unbeaten run in the competition, Ramsbottom, Church, Darwen, Nelson Colne and Todmorden. In the Quarter finals there were wins for Church, Accrington, Darwen and Ramsbottom which led to semi finals between Church and Accrington and Darwen and Ramsbottom. Church made 144 from their 49 overs at West End and then bowled Accrington out for 104 to gain the position of host for the final and in the other semi final Darwen made 212 thanks to 75 from professional Calvin Savage and then managed to restrict Ramsbottom to 178 despite a knock of 61 from professional Grant Thompson and therefore making the Worsley Cup Final on their first appearance in the competition. The final at West End saw Darwen bat first and Calvin Savage was again the mainstay of the Darwen Innings hitting an unbeaten 79 as they made 186 all out before rain caused the game to be continued the following week. Church progressed to 57 for 3 but then lost skipper Levi Wolfenden and the match then fell from their grasp as 7 wickets fell for just 10 runs, thanks mainly to a man of the match bowling performance from John Cordingley who took 6 for 10, including a hat trick to earn Darwen their first Worsley Cup. The Telegraph continue to sponsor the Junior Cup. This year, the final was held at Colne who hosted Darwen, again the match was interrupted by weather, but this match was completed the following night. Darwen batted first and accumulated a total of 182 with Reece Willets top scoring on 32. Andrew Cook was then the hero for Darwen, taking 6 for 13 in bowling Colne out for 79, Andrew Smith making 36 not out. The T20 competition was again split into three groups and after the group stages Darwen, Clitheroe and Rishton topped their respective groups to be joined in the quarter finals by Lowerhouse, Burnley, Bacup, Todmorden and Nelson.
