56 J W Lees Lancashire Cricket League SECOND ELEVEN RULES - Season 2018 1. TITLE - This League shall be called the Lancashire Second Eleven Cricket League and shall consist of the Second Elevens of each club in the “Lancashire Cricket League”. 2. GOVERNMENT - The Second Eleven League shall be governed by the Committee of the said League and shall be run in accordance with the Rules relating to the playing of First XI Cricket, save as hereinafter provided. 3. NO PROFESSIONAL - No Professional shall be allowed to play in any Second Eleven League match. 4. PLAYER’S QUALIFICATIONS - When a Senior League Club is engaged in a match on the same date that its Second Eleven is playing a Second Eleven League match, any player shall be eligible for either team. If a Second Eleven League match is played when the Senior League team has no match, a player shall not be eligible to play in the Second Eleven League team if he has played in more than 2 games with the Senior League team in the preceding 28 days unless the permission of the League Executive has been first obtained. For the sake of clarification in this Rule, a player who is selected for the Senior League team in a game which does not commence shall not be deemed to have played’’. As the competition approaches its close, the leading clubs should, as a matter of honour, continue to play their usual junior players, and the introduction of senior players for the purpose of winning the last matches may lead to the disqualification of the club concerned. 5. BALL - The ball to be used in each innings shall be provided by the fielding- side. The Ball should be of Grade A Quality, not necessarily produced by the manufacturer of the balls used in First Team matches. 6. BOWLING - In any one innings, a bowler may bowl a maximum of 12 overs. The number of overs shall not be reduced in rain affected matches. 7. No uncompleted Second Eleven fixtures shall be rearranged. 8. TEAMS COMPLETE - In the case of a Second Eleven Division Team playing fewer than eleven men, the League Committee shall have power to deal with the offending Club by way of being fined (Category 2 (Rule 4)(5) (v)), and with the absentee players by way of suspension or any other method they may deem advisable. 9. In Second Eleven matches the wicket that is being used during the game is to be covered rather than any other part of the square.
