Lancashire League Handbook 2019

106 NELSON - Sanjika Ridma (Sri Lanka) Nelson have engaged Sanjika Ridma as Professional for the 2019 season. Sanjika is a genuine all rounder who’s slow left arm orthodox bowling and attacking middle order batting has seen him progress rapidly through the Sri Lankan system. Currently playing first class cricket for Sri Lankan Army Sports Club Sanjika has also represented Sri Lanka at U19 level. This will be Sanjika’s first visit to the UK and I know all of our players, supporters and members look forward to welcoming him to Nelson Cricket Club. NORDEN - Jake Sandham Norden had little hesitation in re-signing Jake Sandham for a second season as professional. Jake was previously an amateur with Monton and Weaste and regularly featured in Central Lancashire League and Pennine League representative sides. He has played for Cumberland and for Essex seconds. Last season he claimed his maiden century as a professional. His bowling put Stags into winable positions in several games, and the hope is that such positions can be turned into wins this season. Now familiar with his role as professional, and with the club, he will spearhead a talented group of similar age. The aim is for them to fulfil their potential together in what should prove a tough exciting season. RAMSBOTTOM - George Linde (South Africa) George Linde is a quality Top Order Left-handed Batsman and Left-arm Orthodox Spinner fromWestern Province in South Africa. A quality lower order batsman at provincial/franchise level, GF has been a regular at the top of the order in UK club cricket. He has been one of the Cobras/Western Province’s best performed spinners over the last 5 season 222 wickets across all formats since his debut in 2011-12. With 6 seasons of UK experience, including 3500 runs and over 200 wickets, GF has proven on all occasions he is a genuine all rounder. After a stellar 2014-15 domestic season, in which George was one of the leading wicket takers in the Ram Slam T20, he was invited to attend the SA High Performance program, spending the winter in Sri Lanka with other promising talents from around South Africa. He has since gone on to become a regular for the Cape Cobras in the SA Franchise system and has attended the National Academy Spin camps in India in both 2016 & 2017. RAWTENSTALL - Jovaun Van Wyngaardt (South Africa) Jovaun is BowlingAll-rounder who plays his cricket for SouthAfrican Provincial side North west in both their 3 day and 1 day teams. He is no stranger to cricket in the North West having spent last year at Blackpool in the Northern league where they finished champions. Jovaun is a straight talking, hard cricket with the ability to win games with both bat and ball and comes highly recommended.
